Pre-School!

Kian in his cubby.

Kian has started pre-school. He was so excited to go that he kept asking me if it was time to leave yet as soon as he got up in the morning. It was a big day for him and, I think, a bigger day for me.

Kian is at a co-op pre-school which means that there is a lot of parent participation. It's a great school and I have heard nothing but positive things about it. Teacher Sue is fantastic with the kids and they all love her! Parents have a duty day where they participate in the school and help with the kids and clean up and they have a"job" for the year. My job is to make paint and play dough for 7 weeks over the next ten months. I can't say that I won't enjoy doing that!

Kian's first day I was a duty parent. I think that made the transition for me to pre-school so much easier. I was able to watch him at school and didn't feel like I had just left him there. In fact, I don't think that he really noticed that I was there at all! Julean got to have a play date with his little friends and was just as tired when he got home as Kian was. They both had a three hour nap and didn't want lunch when they got home. Julean actually missed Kian while he was at pre-school and was so happy to see him when he got home.

Here are some photos of the first day of school and a couple others.

Snack time! Boy is he starving at snack time!

Saanich Fair 2010

The only "ride" Julean was big enough for.

Labour Day weekend was the Saanichton Fair again. It was a pretty busy weekend with a couple runs to the dump for Mark to get ride of all the plaster that we took down in the living room and soon-to-be library. Followed by some yard clean up and more plaster clean up in the house. The boys and I tired to keep out of the way by going to the park and playing with some friends who were down from Naniamo.

Sunday, which turned out to be the pick of the weekend , we went to the fair with auntie Renee and uncle Darcy. Kian ran straight for the tractors and it was almost impossible to pull him away from them to see anything else. Julean loved the animals and signed for more every time we left one and moved on to something else. The rest of us really only went to the fair for the mini donuts.

Here are some photos to enjoy, since this blog seems to have taken two weeks to post!

A favourite.

Another "ride".

Kian at the top of the Super Slide. He made it up all by himself and put his bag down without help.

Not too sure what I'm getting myself into! This is fast!

Better try to slow down!

Hurry, hurry drive the fire truck!

Mom and Kian on the bee ride.

Ambulance helicopter!

Ambulance

Julean loved all the animals and was really good with them.

Kian's 3!

I have no idea where the time has gone! Kian is now three years old and going to start pre-school in a few days! I know I haven't slept through the last three years so maybe it is just the lack of sleep that finds me at this point.

Bob the Builder - yes those are trucks on his pjs

Fireman Sam

Kian decided that he wanted to have his own special day this year for his birthday and not have a joint party with his friend Jacob, whose birthday is a week later than his. I guess that worked out for the best because Jacob ended up being sick on the day of the party and couldn't join the fun. Some how we lucked into a free bouncy castle (that we still have!) lent to us by our wonderful neighbours. It was the hit of the party and kept the kids nicely entertained between the decorated-your-own-construction-hat and the hot dogs and cake. the party was a bit of a construction theme, since someone is a bit obsessed with Bob the Builder (or Bobby Bob, if you speak Kian) and Fireman Sam. The party was a great success and went off without a hitch. I think all the kids went home really tired. I know I was!

The famous "cake" served with a shovel in the back of a dump truck

Had my cake and ate it too!
